A PROCESS FOR CREATIVE WRITING

SATURDAY NIGHT WITH MATT WAY:
The idea was to do make a piece of wiriting from a recorded conversation, inspired by an actual event.
Matt and I have often gone out late at night to the city, not to cause trouble or harm anyone or anything, but instead to appreciate it, and to notice the beauty that we so easily miss in the mundane business of our lives. At night we see things in a new ways, from a new perspective, we explore new corners on bikes, or on foot and we paint.
There have been many events like this over the years that we and others have shared. They’re not all at night but often are. These events often inspire rich, positive and memorable conversations that I now cherish in my memory.
In a way that I find difficult to explain, it’s our worship to God.
On Saturday we went out on purpose with the intention of having these rich and deep conversations that matt would then use as inspiration for a poem that would hopefully describe the ideas we’re passionate about. So we did, and we recorded the conversation.
I spent a few hours after transcribing a 40 minute conversation that took place at 3:30am. It was a whole mix of fading adrenaline, tiredness, and some genuinely good bits.
Once the poem is written we will share ideas about how to best translate that piece into motion.
