My Site!
Check out my new site! owning a phone that hates flash spurred me on to learn html and css and all of that.
I spent a few days just studying, getting my head around the basics and then it was all joy! I actually really enjoyed making it and I really like the site :)

BYE BYE TOM
Due to a lack of mostly time but also a clear direction at this stage, Tom and me have had to postpone our collaboration for now. It’s frustrating but it wasn’t at all a waste; we came up with a manifesto and inspired each other to think about our priorities and what is important to us.
Hopefully next year as we work together, Tom, Matt and me will have the opportunity to revisit this...

Writing a dissertation is robbing me of all my time and energy.
Test Piece #1 - cat
A quick animated visual test for the animation I’m doing with cat.
VISUAL TEST #1
_______________________________________________________________________________________
After making things with Cat on Monday, I’ve started to make some visual tests to find the right feel/style for our piece. The next thing to try is some animation tests.
Bye Bye...
It’s pretty much mid-february and I’ve realised that unless I cut down, I’m going to be way behind my schedule… I have four films to finish planning and to make as well as a dissertation to write (that I wanted to have finished two weeks ago!).
So I’ve decided to dump my mum…. sorry mum :( - I figured that I’d rather make three great pieces than...
A PROCESS FOR CREATIVE WRITING

SATURDAY NIGHT WITH MATT WAY:
The idea was to do make a piece of wiriting from a recorded conversation, inspired by an actual event.
Matt and I have often gone out late at night to the city, not to cause trouble or harm anyone or anything, but instead to appreciate it, and to notice the beauty that we so...

SIDE PROJECT, BUT PART OF IT REALLY
My brother Danny and me have started a side project that is to write a song/make a piece of music once a week. Together we’re planning to write all of the soundtracks for this album of collaborations. Here is a link to our BLOG:

I think a lot of people forget how important sound and music is in motion pieces both animated and live action.
Music is pretty...
THE ARTISTS: TOM MORRIS
_____________________________________________________________________________________
TOM MORRIS:
Tom Morris made this magazine where he had to collaborate with 10 artists. He inspired me to work with others and now thats all I ever want to do. In the words of Kyle Cooper, “When you play with other people, it’s always more fun.”
Tom is studying Graphic Design…...
THE ARTISTS: MATT WAY
_______________________________________________________________________________________
MATT WAY:
Matt is a photo artist, a graffiti artist, a graphic designer, a poet and a musician. I chose to work with Matt because I know him well and I love his work. His ideas are always well thought out and his concepts are strong, he also has the ability to realise those ideas well. Which is great. Matt...
THE ARTISTS: CAT DAVIS
_______________________________________________________________________________________
CAT DAVIS:
Cat Graduated with a Degree in Animation last year. She’s a talented illustrator, animator, photographer and is good with most forms of craft and modeling. I chose to work with Cat because her work is so different to mine and yet I think we will be able to combine our ideas and styles...
THE ARTISTS: ISABELLE ROBERTS
_______________________________________________________________________________________
ISABELLE ROBERTS:
Isabelle is a Bristol based artist who paints, sculpts, draws, prints and takes photos.
She also happens to be my Mum.
I chose to work with my mum because her work is genuinely amazing and because the thought of making a motion piece with her seems like an exciting challenge; to...
‘SING UP’ BY STUDIO AKA.
On the theme of referencing things that inspire me, here’s a spot by Studio AKA. This is a 40 second piece that is fun, playful, tells a simple and cool story and looks good.
I’d like the animations I produce to feel like this one.
A COOL FILM BY JACK CAULFIELD AND RICH EASTICK ABOUT STEVE DUNNE.
This film shows a few examples of the songs from Steve’s album ‘Photographs’, one of the first things that inspired me to do this project in the first place.
Very cool.

Nice one Tom :)

RECAP
IN THIS BLOG I’D LIKE TO DO A QUICK RECAP OF EVERYTHING FROM LAST TERM AND THEN EXPLAIN A BIT ABOUT MY PLANS FOR THIS TERM SO THAT HOPEFULLY EVERYTHING WILL MAKE SENSE AND I’LL BE ABLE TO MOVE ON.
I STARTED LAST TERM WITH THE INTENTION OF MAKING A SERIES OF FUN AND PLAYFUL ANIMATIONS THAT I COULD COMPILE INTO AN ALBUM. I WAS INSPIRED BUY A GUY I KNOW CALLED STEVE DUNNE WHO MADE A...

Merry Christmas :)

THE NEXT STEP
I have felt a bit frustrated at times during this project. And I think I’ve worked out why; I live in a house and have close friends and family all around me, a lot of whom are extremely creative and incredibly talented and yet I’m working alone.
WHATS THAT ABOUT!!!??
So I was having a conversation with my brother danny last week and I got so inspired and got this idea:
To do a...

This week has felt great, it feels like I’m making the most of things… things like my 3rd year in animation and things like my life. It’s been productive and very fun.
Another great thing that happened this week (which I will expand upon during next weeks blog) was that I had an idea that I’m pretty much way excited about… I’ll save all the explaining for later...
I went to london to visit some design/animation studios and to ask for some work experience and ended up making this animation to document my trip. It was lots of fun. The soundtrack is taken from one of my own songs that I recorded last week. I like it… though I can’t actually quite believe I made another animation featuring the (in)famous ‘walking man’ … I think I...
